Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know how to ride?

For the riding holiday, you don’t need to be an advanced rider, but you must be able to ride independently at walk, trot and canter.

How do you ride?

We ride recreational Western style, using Western saddles and loose reins. No previous Western riding experience is needed.

What should I bring?

Sturdy shoes with a small heel or riding boots, long trousers, rainwear and a riding helmet.

Our rules

Rules are never fun to make, but they are necessary. These are the riding rules of The Eagle Trail Ranch:

  • Riding through the Czech forests is very different from riding in an arena at a riding school and requires a higher level of riding ability. If our guides feel that you do not have the necessary skills, you will be asked to dismount and will not be allowed to continue the ride. This is for your own safety and that of others (without a refund).
  • We ride Western style, using Western tack and loose reins. The trails can sometimes be steep or full of tree roots, so give your horse the freedom to find its own way.
  • When riding in a large group, the lead rider (our guide) sets the pace. We generally ride in single file. Under no circumstances are you allowed to overtake the guide.
  • Our horses live together as a herd in the pasture. Entering the pasture without permission from The Eagle Trail Ranch is strictly prohibited.

At Your Own Risk

Horse riding is entirely at your own risk. As mentioned before, the terrain here can be challenging. By following the rules and having the necessary riding skills, you can ride here safely. However, we must always remember that we are working with living animals, which naturally involves certain risks. It is up to each rider to decide whether they are willing and able to accept these risks.

Wearing a Riding Helmet

Wearing a riding helmet is generally mandatory. Riders over the age of 18 may choose to ride without a helmet at their own risk. Please note: without a helmet, you will not be covered by health insurance.

Description of the Rides

Our rides are incredibly varied, just like the landscape of the Czech Eagle Mountains. One moment you’re riding through the forest, climbing steep hills or making your way down challenging slopes, then passing through a small village before suddenly finding yourself riding across wide-open fields.

We aim to show you as much of the beautiful surroundings as possible and adapt the rides to the experience level of our riders.

Horse Allocation

Our guides will assign you a horse based on your riding experience, age, weight and height. Of course, we take personal preferences into account, but unfortunately, we cannot always accommodate every request.

We do our best to find the perfect match for everyone, ensuring a fun and safe riding experience.
